1. Intelligent Control System
All models are equipped standard with XCMG's independently developed X-CCMS intelligent control system. This system integrates over 120 operational data items, including paving speed, thickness, and compaction, via CAN bus technology and transmits them in real time to the cockpit touchscreen, allowing operators to precisely adjust construction parameters. For example, the RP1655's "Intelligent Paving Assistance System" automatically adjusts paving speed based on the mix supply rate, avoiding problems such as low-mix downtime or excessive mix accumulation. In one highway construction project, this system increased paving continuity to 92%, reducing the pavement joint problems caused by construction interruptions.
In addition, some models support remote monitoring, allowing managers to view real-time equipment location, operating status, and fault warnings via a mobile app. On a trans-provincial highway project, remote monitoring enabled centralized management of 10 pavers, reducing fault response time to less than 30 minutes and maintaining an equipment availability rate of over 95%.
2. Power and Transmission Technology
Engine types used are from internationally renowned brands such as Deutz and Cummins, specifically designed for road construction. For example, the RP1655 is equipped with the Deutz TD226B-6IG engine, rated at 162kW and meeting China IV emission standards. Its fuel consumption is as low as 205g/kW·h, representing an 8% fuel saving compared to older models in the same class. The transmission system utilizes a combination of hydraulic and mechanical transmissions. A hydraulic motor drives the paving screed, offering fast response and paving speed control accuracy of ±0.1m/min, ensuring road surface smoothness. A mechanical transmission drives the travel system, providing strong load-bearing capacity and minimizing malfunctions during heavy-duty construction.
XCMG has also optimized the power system specifically for the high-temperature environment of asphalt paving. The engine cooling system features dual independent fan controls that automatically adjust fan speed based on water temperature. Even during summer operations at temperatures as high as 40°C, the engine water temperature remains stably controlled at 85-95°C, preventing power loss due to overheating.
3. Screed Structure Design
The screed, the core working device of the paver, is constructed using high-strength, wear-resistant steel plates with a three-section structure. Key components, such as the screed base, are made of 16mm-thick Hardox 450 wear-resistant material, boasting a service life of over 8,000 hours, a 50% increase compared to ordinary steel plates. The screed also features multiple built-in heating tubes, electrically heated to achieve a heating uniformity of ≤5°C. Heating from room temperature to 180°C takes only 25 minutes, eliminating asphalt mixture adhesion issues caused by uneven heating.
Some models also feature an automatically retractable screed. For example, the RP1655's screed can be adjusted from 10 to 16 meters without removing additional modules, reducing adjustment time to 15 minutes. This significantly improves construction efficiency during road widening. The screed also supports fine-tuning of the screed angle. The operator can precisely adjust the screed angle through the control system to ensure uniform paving thickness. During construction on a municipal road, fine-tuning the angle kept the pavement thickness error within 2mm.
